The incumbent will execute the strategies and tactics within the strategic plan to expand the level of engagement to the entire Gator Nation and inspire our volunteer groups to support the University's initiatives. The Assistant Director will also support a variety targeted programs and events that build and engage alumni communities.  Essential Functions:  Assist in the leadership, support, training, and stewardship for the National Gator Club® program and Affiliate Groups; Serve as the staff advisor to a portfolio of clubs and affiliate groups to ensure their success. Assist in the program evaluation process, and participate in strategic and operational discussions. Maintain metrics and reporting for a portfolio of clubs and affiliate groups, and ensure return on investment. Extensive travel to regional areas to engage alumni volunteers and seek stewardship opportunities.  Provide leadership for the planning, organization, execution, and assessment of the annual Gator Club® and Affiliate Group volunteer leaders' conference and award and recognition program to steward volunteers and inspire further engagement. Coordinate ongoing training initiatives with volunteer groups (ex. webinars, conference calls, etc.).  Assist in the planning and coordination of Gator Club®, Affiliate Group, and Alumni Association programs (ex. Welcome to the Gatorhood, Awards Banquets, Reunions, Leadership Conference, Tailgates, Gator Gatherings).  Support the strategy, planning and execution of Affiliate Group reunions and ongoing regional programming. Coordinate the recruitment, identification, selection, and training process for new and re-organizing Gator Clubs® and Affiliate Groups. Lead organizational meetings for potential volunteers.  Coordinate with Office of Admissions and Student and Young Alumni Affairs staff on current and future student recruitment opportunities for Gator Clubs and Affiliate Groups to implement and execute student recruitment programs and opportunities; including coordination of the Send-off Party program, scholarship receptions, recruitment and yield events, managing multiple party details, sorting student lists, designing and printing materials and invitations and following a centralized communication schedule.  Coordinate with Assistant Director of Student and Young Alumni Affairs and Admissions office on student recruiting program and Gator Club® student recruitment activities by recruiting and maintaining list of volunteers, disseminating information, managing centralized communications, recording volunteer activities, and creating and updating student recruiting volunteer handbook.  Serve as primary contact for Gator Club® and Affiliate Group expansion requests. Evaluate new group requests and resources to gauge feasibility for the addition of new groups. Assess the request to identify the benefit of an official club/affiliate alumni group and have a significant impact on membership.  Provide resources for Clubs to effectively allocate budgets and record expenditures. Assist in developing and maintaining accurate budget information for Gator Clubs and Affiliate groups. Develop an understanding of UFAA technology tools, specifically the database system known as Advance; to perform data pulls, queries, reports and creating alumni thumbnails.  Assist in leadership of the alumni volunteer Regional Directors to ensure communications are consistent and timely.  Advise clubs on Board Member, Club Member, and volunteer recruitment and retention; Support Gator Clubs® and Affiliate Groups with the development and improvement of their online presence, email campaigns, talking points, and outbound communications.  Support UFAA events including but not limited to Homecoming/Gator Growl, Gator Day at the Capital, Gator Nation Tailgates, Grand Guard, Outstanding Young Alumni weekend, etc.  Work with Development staff to identify prospects in regional areas.    Advertised Salary:    Compensation is competitive and commensurate with education and experience.    Minimum Requirements:    Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of relevant experience.    Preferred Qualifications:    The ideal candidate will possess:  Two to three years of relevant experience in successful higher education program work in alumni relations, development, or marketing/communications is strongly preferred. Experience communicating with engaging and supporting multiple and diverse communities. Experience with event planning, and with volunteer management and/or customer service. Must be an outstanding communicator and possess excellent written and oral communication skills; interpersonal skills; must be a self-starter; and the ability to work collegially and interact effectively with diverse constituencies inside and outside the university. Public speaking experience desired. Detail-oriented and the ability to communicate well verbally and in written form and able to build relationships effectively with a diverse community of alumni and a variety of campus partners. The ability to learn databases, email marketing tools, and other web-based platforms. An appreciation for and track record of active support of diversity in the workplace in all its forms; proven success working with volunteers; excellent strategic planning and project management skills; experience in a data-driven environment; organizational skills; and the ability to lead, influence and motivate others are required. Accuracy, attention to detail, a customer service-oriented attitude; and the ability to work in a complex organization are necessary for success in this position. The incumbent should be computer proficient in these areas: Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, internet browsers, preferably Internet Explorer, E-mail and social media. The ability and willingness to travel are necessary. A valid driver license and good driving record are essential.*  *Business expenses are reimbursed through a standard accounting system.  The ability to pay for expenses using your own personal credit card or funds and have them reimbursed is essential.
